This trip is different than any we have done before. Our goal was to find a place we wanted to visit and plant ourselves there for a period of time, not moving every day or two (which is Brian’s instinct). As such, we are in Antigua for two weeks. In the area there are lakes to visit and volcanoes to climb, but that is not this trip. So, we arose late and researched breakfast spots. There is no Yelp in Antigua, which can only be healthy. But without the internet how does anyone find a restaurant? They don’t, so Google Maps lead us to the closest well regarded spot, “El Local”. It was extraordinary. A quiet courtyard with tropical vegetation and a reasonable temperature. And the food was pretty great.
After a leisurely breakfast, arting and coding we wandered the relatively busy streets of Antigua, until we retreated from the mile high sun for another wonderful afternoon nap in our remarkably chilled AirBnB. We amused the staff of Once Y Once (11:11) by showing up a second night in a row and then spent the rest of the evening chilling in our Guatemalan loft to the sounds of our new favorite house music and cooking channel on YouTube, Flavour Trip.
