We arose at a leisurely 9 something and researched the morning’s breakfast spot. Today Google took us a block and a half to the absolutely wonderful Café Sol. Brian continued his effort to find a two egg American breakfast at every restaurant he ever eats at before noon and Theresa had some ridiculously amazing oatmeal pancakes. Something tells us this place will go into our heavy rotation.
Theresa painted and Brian coded. We know, the obvious question is “Brian coded?”. In this judgement free zone, we’d like to remember that we each have our own hobbies. In this case, Brian is working on resurrecting what you are reading right now. As crazy as it seems, this website is 25 years old this year. One of our happy places is to look back at years of travel with some context. The site has been a little broken for a few years and we’d like to be able to use it again as we travel more in our unemployed years. So there you go. If you are reading this, then huzzah!
After breakfast (next to a young lady who definitely should have gone home and not infected the rest of us) we visited the tourist information center, and then the crazy Antigua Public Market. We followed some bad YouTube vlog advice for a mediocre lunch and are still dealing with the clever (and non-functional ) banana leaf to-go containers. We made our first stop at the local super market for some groceries and then made our way home for a very enjoyable (and much cheaper) meal in.
In the evening we explored the Santa Catalina Arch area, its street food market, and the much calmer “no haggling” Nim Pot market. A lovely day. We like this place.
