Daily Didactic
This morning was a departure. Not that we ate breakfast at home or somewhere we haven’t been, no. It was different in that (most of the bugs having been worked out) we jointly worked on travelogue didactics. Theresa flexed her memory and bullet pointed activities and details. Brian turned facts into sardonic text. Midway through, however, Brian realized that his code did not allow didactics to have paragraph breaks, which derailed the rest of his day.
Breakfast at El Local brought us all the joy it has before, but as we went to pay we realized the music had only gotten quieter because the power had gone out. More importantly this meant these well traveled citizens of the world couldn’t pay with our fancy phones. But we could use Google translate to say we’d be back in fifteen minutes with cash. We hoofed it back to our AirBnB, grabbed the quetzals we were not carrying for some reason, and made it back just in time for the power to come on so we could pay with our fancy phones.
Aiming to take a “day off” (we know, we know), our only remaining todo for the day was to walk to Twisted Scissors. Theresa, as a bold experiment, has decided getting haircuts in foreign countries would be a fun adventure this year. We saw this place’s sticker stuck to a sidewalk a few days ago and it wins. And Google reviews says it doesn’t suck. After securing a 1:00 appointment for Sunday, we returned to the shade and cool of our home.
The rest of the day was spent on learning Unicode’s impact on PHP JSON decoding (Brian) and napping, jewelry shopping, and yoga (Theresa). After finishing up our spaghetti makings and enjoying a few more episodes of the first season of the Office, we called it a relaxed and reinvigorating day.
